Description
Tierra Encantada Charter School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Track Coach to lead our track and field program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for athletics and a commitment to fostering the physical, emotional, and social development of student athletes. This role involves working with students of varying skill levels, preparing new students for track, adhering to NMAA guidelines, entering rosters in Maxpreps, and coordinating fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Coaching and Development :
• Develop and implement training programs tailored to students at different skill levels.
• Provide individual and group coaching sessions to improve students' athletic performance.
• Prepare new students for participation in track events, ensuring they understand the fundamentals of the sport.
• Motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best and work cohesively as a team.
2. Compliance and Reporting :
• Adhere to all New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) guidelines and regulations.
• Ensure all mandatory training and certifications are up to date.
• Maintain accurate records of student participation and performance.
• Report to school administration and NMAA as required.
3. Roster Management :
• Enter and maintain accurate team rosters in MaxPreps.
• Ensure all student athletes meet eligibility requirements.
• Monitor and report on student athletes’ academic progress.
4. Fundraising and Community Engagement :
• Plan, coordinate, and participate in fundraising activities to support the track program.
• Engage with the school community and parents to foster support and involvement in the track program.
• Develop partnerships with local businesses and organizations for sponsorships and donations.
5. Event Coordination :
• Organize and manage track meets and competitions.
• Ensure all equipment and facilities are prepared for practices and meets.
• Coordinate transportation and logistics for meets.
6. Safety and Well being :
• Promote a safe and positive environment for all student athletes.
• Implement injury prevention strategies and provide first aid as necessary.
• Ensure all students have appropriate medical clearance to participate in track activities.
Qualifications :
• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Knowledge of track and field techniques and training methods.
• Strong understanding of NMAA guidelines and regulations.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Certified in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain certification).
Additional Requirements :
• Must pass a background check.
• Availability for after school practices, meets, and weekend events.
